Sublative VS. Sublime - What Are They Each Used For?
These terms are often confused and often grouped together, Sublime and Sublative facials, but let us help you understand what each does.
It’s most important to understand that although Sublative and Sublime skin treatments are similar in many ways, they also have their distinct differences.
They are similar in the fact that they both work to rejuvenate the skin from the inside out (we explain this later in the article), they both result in a smoother and more youthful complexion, and are both non-invasive treatments. Another similarity is that they can be done using the Elos Plus system, by Syneron Candela (the absolute best Sublime/Sublative laser technology in the market).
Here at Fresh You Clinic, we use both for facial rejuvenation treatments, primarily skin tightening and skin resurfacing. Our clients love the fact that there's little to no discomfort, no downtime, and the outer layer of the skin remains undisrupted.
Let’s now discuss each separately, and what the key differences are.
Sublative (Skin Resurfacing)
Sublative treatments are used to resurface the skin. It does this from the inside out. The sublative treatment, done by Elos Plus, only uses the power of fractionated bi-polar radio frequency to reach the deep dermal layers of the skin. It does this in order to encourage new collagen production.
Technically, the head of the device has a number of multi-electrode pins that deliver the radio-frequency (RF) energy into the skin. These pins create a grid-like pattern on the skin’s surface, specifically only on the targeted area. By doing this the energy is then delivered deep into the layers in this matrix pattern.
Who Would Benefit From Sublative Treatments?
Sublative treatments are best for those that want to rejuvenate the texture of their skin. Many skin imperfections that Sublative can help include: acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines, large pores, hyperpigmentation, sun spots, age marks and stretch marks. The results from Sublative treatments are almost immediate, but they become more and more prominent as the days or weeks go by, and as more treatments are done. This happens when the cells that were reached by RF energy move up to the surface of the skin.
Sublime (Skin Tightening)
Sublime treatments are also used to restore the skin and encourage new collagen production, similar to that of Sublative treatments. Sublime treatments however, are more focused on giving the skin a tighter or more contoured look. With age and time, skin loses its elasticity and gravity pulls down the skin. The main components responsible are collagen and elastin.
Sublime uses bi-polar RF energy and deep infrared heat together in order to penetrate through to the dermal layers of skin and stimulate collagen production and elastin. The deep tissues are heated, and this in turn, puts the skin into a “healing” mode. By doing this, it stimulates more collagen and elastin to be produced. The result is firmer, tighter and smoother skin.
Who Would Benefit From Sublime Treatments?
Since Sublime works best to tighten lax skin and create a more contoured appearance, it is perfect for those who suffer from deep wrinkles, folds, droopy eyelids, sagging chin, jowls and any loose skin around the face or neck. Similar to Sublative treatments, clients are able to see a difference after just one session, but the best results will start to show in the coming weeks.
Can They Work Together?
Yes they can. Definitely.
Although these technologies accomplish the same task, both stimulate collagen and healthy new cells deep within the skin—they do it for different reasons. Sublative is best for those looking to plump up the skin and have less noticeable texture. Sublime is for those who want to tighten and shrink skin that has drooped. These skin concerns often go hand in hand. Combining the treatments consistently yields maximum results with no downtime.
Sublative and Sublime treatments are a great alternative to invasive plastic surgery procedures such as face lifts or dermabrasion which can take weeks to heal from.
